Hey, do any of you guys understand this newsgroups stuff? I'm trying to sign up for a couple, but Thunderbird doesn't seem to find any. I get a newsgroups server from my ISP, but it just doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

You need to type the name of the group like alt.sex.stories or whatever. However, I suggest you use Google.com's groups, as you can search Google within all of them and don't have to download megs of messages to search; Google (and previously Dejanews) made traditional news obsolete.

Not really, just took Lucida Console, removed hinting (what made it look bad if smaller than 14), fixed some glyphs to my liking (lijtQ*+?≤≥ and several others), made all the new glyphs I might use, and did some tweaking to the Unicode code point assignment so more characters show up.
Lucida Console is a fixed-spacing font, which means every character takes the same space, like this:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size=2 face="Verdana,sans-serif">code:</font><table border="0" width="90%" bgcolor="#333333" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0"><tr><td width="100%"><table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" bgcolor="#FF9900"><tr><td width="100%" bgcolor="#C0C0C0"><pre>ABCDEFGHIJ
abcdefghij
iiiiiiiiii
WWWWWWWWWW</pre></td></tr></table></td></tr></table></BLOCKQUOTE>
Compare to proportional-spacing fonts:
ABCDEFGHIJ
abcdefghij
iiiiiiiiii
WWWWWWWWWW
Fixed-spacing fonts are very useful for tables, text files (like GameFAQs FAQs), programming (code on proportional fonts sucks because it doesn't line up), and they are used by your browser for things like the boxes where you write your posts in this board, to display plain text, etc.
Nowadays fixed-spacing fonts are rare, so they are valuable. Commonly used font Courier New sucks, I'm tired of it, it's not too readable, and lots of alternatives are Courier clones >_< . Windows comes with Andale Mono, which is good but not too good, and Lucida Console, which would be good without hinting as I've made it (IMO). These and other alternatives like Arial Monospaced feature the stupid i and l "with stuff" I took care off to have a normal font. It's been ages since i and l write as a line in sans-serif fonts like Lucida, so I don't know why they have to make them so weird, stupid fashion.
Another important thing I fixed was the asterisk. In console fonts, it used to be big and centered, as in my pic. Programmers like it because it's used as the product (as in 2*3), and as an operator (as in *x ), and it's not as readable nor nice if it's small and up there.

It is, just keep in mind you'll have to draw the vectors for a bunch of characters (essential 93 plus the extended characters you use in your language like Ł ) , it's not easy and requires a lot of time.
